Allan has extensive experience of substantial and often high profile, media sensitive commercial litigation for public and private sector clients. Specialising particularly in contractual disputes, he has significant expertise in securing and defending injunctions of all types, particularly freezing orders and search and seize orders for which he has acted as Supervising Solicitor.  He often gives advice on methods of preventing disputes or the tactical steps required to minimise their effects, particularly in the context of contract termination.

Allan also has specific expertise in the Health Sector, especially in relation to procurement where he has advised on numerous challenges to procurement processes run by a variety of public bodies for goods and services.  Allan was seconded to the Commercial Contracts Management Unit of the Department of Health in London and has advised PCTs, SHAs, NHS Trusts and Local Health Boards extensively on a wide range of commercial and contractual issues.  He advises on both the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations and has experience of dealing with both the Information Commissioner and the Information Tribunal.

Allan has defended a number of significant claims for judicial review, including in relation to the LNG Terminals in Milford Haven and a leading case concerning consultation within the NHS.  He also has experience of acting for representative defendants in pension proceedings.

Allan is a qualified mediator and has resolved many cases through that process although he also has extensive experience of the High Court (in particular in the Administrative and Commercial Courts), the Mercantile Court, the Technology and Construction Court and Arbitration. He is a member of the Legal Practice Course Advisory Board at the Cardiff University Law School and is an External Assessor for the Law School's Expert Witness Accreditation Scheme.
