Top tier celebrations for Morgan Cole

20 Dec 2007

Morgan Cole is celebrating its position in the Chambers UK 2008 Guide. The firm’s teams in the Thames Valley and Wales performed exceptionally well in this year’s guide, which ranks solicitors and barristers on the basis of detailed interviews with lawyers and clients.

The firm has achieved 13 ‘best of UK’ rankings, pitched against some of the country’s national law firms. Individual lawyers included in this tier are Bruce Potter and Gayle Curry, who are both recognised for their experience of advising clients in the health sector. The "insightful and good humoured" Bruce Potter and "hard-working" Gayle Curry are both on secondment to the Department of Health Commercial Directorate, where they are advising on the national strategy and contracts for the procurement of health services from providers in the private sector. The Health and Social Care team at Morgan Cole has been ranked ‘best in UK’ and is commended for its responsiveness as well as its "versatility and ability to learn very quickly".

Elisabeth Bell, who is an associate in the firm’s IT department in Reading, has been named as a lawyer to watch in the Health and Social Care field. Elisabeth joined the firm in 1999 and has recently been involved in a project to provide managed radiology equipment services to the NHS. She caught the attention of interviewees with her "willingness to put in the work in order to understand all of the nuances of a project and her ability to work well under pressure."

Graham Miles, of the health and regulatory practice area, is ranked within the top tier, provides "calm and measured advice, which is especially helpful when you have a difficult decision to make." Also from the same team, Judith Maunder has earned praise as a "safe pair of hands", and maintains her best of UK ranking.

Neil McLaughlin is head of Morgan Cole's insurance, health and regulatory practice, based in the Reading office. He was also awarded a ‘Best in the UK’ ranking. Neil has previously been the President of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers. Neil conducts cases on behalf of general insurers. Richard Jones has maintained his best of UK ranking for the Mental Health practice area, based in South Wales but advising clients across the UK, and is praised as "one of the leaders in Mental Capacity Act matters, which is a red-hot area."

Robin Havard, who recently led the firm’s 20th Anniversary celebrations, said of this year’s results: "We are thrilled to see our hard work over the past year translated into greater recognition of our achievements for clients. It is a testament to our teams of intelligent and dedicated lawyers and a great way to celebrate 20 years in Reading."
