trainees
Each year we take on 12 new trainees welcoming a mix of law, non-law and joint honours graduates. For us, your practical and social skills are just as important as your qualification.
When you join our firm, you will be based in Wales or Thames Valley. Your lifestyle may be different depending on your location but, wherever you are placed, you will enjoy an unparalleled standard of training plus the support and advice you need to make the most of your time with us.
In your work as part of the Morgan Cole team, you will develop a broad knowledge across our main practice areas, spending six months in at least three of them. The six month seats are available in the following practice areas:
- banking
- commercial
- commercial property
- corporate
- employment
- family
- general dispute management
- health/professional indemnity
- insurance litigation
- intellectual property
You will also have opportunities to train in specialist areas or you could be seconded to a major blue chip client.
Wherever your seats are based, whether you are seconded or trained in a specialist area, your experience will be extensive. Training will include client contact, enabling you to hone your skills and keep up with the latest developments in the legal system. Although we will expect you to show initiative and take responsibility, we will not leave you stranded.
For each seat you will be assigned a 'seat supervisor' (a Partner or Senior Solicitor) to advise and guide you through any areas you find more difficult. Throughout your training contract you will have a mentor for support and to act as your 'sounding board'.
In addition to your day to day discussions and feedback your seat supervisor will conduct your mid & end of seat reviews. Of course you and your mentor can meet up at anytime but you will both be expected to comment on your performance in an open and frank discussion resulting in a formal record of your views through the seat review process.
And finally, but not forgetting that, as a Morgan Cole Trainee you will instantly become part of our existing network of Trainees, fee-earners, soft-ball players, rugby supporters, caravaners & marathon runners!
