The IT law group regularly advises on all aspects of information technology law. Recent highlights include:

  • advising a major government department regarding 24 projects under procurement (estimated value £3.5 billion)
  • advising British Energy on a multimillion pound replacement of a data processing system
  • advising the ambulance services on the outsourcing of a new radio voice and data communications system
  • advising a devolved government department on an IT change management programme encompassing a £220 million IT procurement project and ongoing contract management processes
  • advising a top 20 UK university in relation to a major collaboration with IBM which involved the procurement of a £50m ‘supercomputer’
  • advising a consortium of 20 local authorities on the joint bespoke development and procurement of a social services system under a partnering arrangement with an internationally renowned software company
  • advising a number of suppliers, NHS trusts, central government bodies and local authorities in England and Wales on the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act
  • advising a large US software house on its development and release of software solutions to major financial services institutions around the world
  • advising BP plc on a number of IT matters, including the negotiation of a new webhosting deal, and a multimillion dollar restructuring of its global software licensing for over 70,000 desktops and the outsourcing of its IT hardware, software and telecommunications requirements
  • advising RAC plc on its programme to improve customer services through a CRM solution
  • advising a major gas utilities provider on the procurement of metering and data logging services
  • acting for a variety of technology organisations such as Apple, Microsoft, Clearswift, CheckFree, Audatex, INUK, Buffalo Technologies, Atlogus, Foundation Network.
