Morgan Cole solicitors take to the water for Cancer Research

Solicitors from Thames Valley law firm Morgan Cole are taking to the water for the Corporate 8s Challenge organised by Reading Rowing Club.

The team of ten rowers will be whittled down to eight for the competition during training throughout July and August. Dionne Baldwin, solicitor at Morgan Cole, who has organised the team’s training thinks the solicitors will be put through their paces: "For most of the team this is the first time they have taken to the water with oars. They have undertaken some tough training at the gym but now it’s time to take to the water for some real experience of rowing as a team.

Not only is it a really great opportunity for team building and to try something new, but also a great chance for us to raise money for a life-saving charity."

Although the challenge is not usually seen as a fundraising event, the Morgan Cole team have decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK, which is one of the firm’s chosen charities.

Michael Stace, Partner and member of the Morgan Cole Corporate 8s Team said: "The training has been harder than expected but we are really starting to pull together as a team.

Over the next few weeks we will be training with some of the Thames Valley’s best rowers. In addition to training on the river we will have intense training in the Oxford University rowing tank which will give us a chance to practice, even if the weather is bad."

The Corporate 8s Regatta takes place in September, where Morgan Cole will be up against teams such as Foster Wheeler and Bottomline Technologies.
